I try not to post to many things here that arent stories, but I just couldnt let this one go by without commenting.
What I love most about images like this is their reality. It is a beautiful woman waiting for someone special to her to apply lotion to her back… and who knows what will happen next… it is an image filled with anticipation … not for some out of reach, air brushed fantasy, or for a pity provoking eating disorder full of constant self criticism and critique, it is a woman proud to bare her body, proud to share it with someone… the characters in my stories are never models or flat two dimensional images of sexualized marketing strategy, they are people, real people like you, like me, they work, love, live, fight, cry, laugh and eat—yes they eat—I made brownies for dessert tonite, and I know that my characters would love to scarf down a big chocolate brownie with ice cream and later they would end up in bed rubbing lotion on each other and laughing and loving and playing. My characters would never have to leap on a treadmill and burn off the extra calories, they would never stand in front of a mirror and beat up on themselves because they dont look like 13 year old boys with tits… . I dont mean to rave and rant, but I wonder if some people have any clue just how incredible, how beautiful, how amazing they are—and it doesnt have a GOD DAMN THING TO DO WITH THEIR DRESS SIZE!!!!
Perhaps it is because the woman in the image bears a striking resemblence to my wife, perhaps it is because she is not a stick figure, or a 20 something model, perhaps it is because she would love to have a big giant brownie I baked for her and then love me all night long… .you know what, she is beautiful and I for one find her incredible! And frankly, my opinion is the one that counts.
